LiV (Live in View) is the junior high and high school youth group of Rocky Mountain Christian Ministries. This group is designed to help young people make a vital connection with Jesus Christ, and to equip them to reach their generation with a powerful and relevant Gospel message. LiV is built
around the principles of Biblical discipleship - the study of Gods
Word and
empowering of the Holy Spirit coupled with
Christian relationships and role models. LiV meets each week for prayer,
study, fellowship, fun, and food. Growing up in the 21st century is a lot different than growing up in the mid or late twentieth century. There was a time in America when young people grew up in a Judeo-Christian culture. That meant that the values and principles of that culture were taught and modeled all around them. Many people heard a Christian message in church on Sunday, and then saw it modeled and applied in everyday life. Forty years ago, even television sit-coms taught biblical ideas like honesty, loyalty, fidelity in marriage, and respect for authority. Teachers, co-workers, and parents all reinforced the Biblical messages that were taught at home and in church. Those days are gone in this nation. For the last forty years, America has decided to leave Christianity and Biblical morality behind. As a nation, we have devalued both God and human life. Now, the only time during a typical week that a kid may hear a Biblical message, or be among Christian people, may be on. Sunday morning, or at the youth group. For many, a clear commitment to Biblical truth above social pressures, job commitments, and the seeking of self satisfaction does not exist at home. Americas youth have very few role models where such basic essentials as honesty, integrity, and sexual purity are concerned. Our churches are filled with young people who feel betrayed by the generations that have gone before. These kids have often, not necessarily by the desire of the parents, been neglected all of their lives so that Mom or Dad could pay the bills and give them an education. Today the majority of both Christian and non- Christian kids are growing up in single parent homes, or blended families
without the long term stabilizing influence of two married parents. Many of
our young people are not immoral, but amoral. They have literally never been
taught how to distinguish right from wrong, or that Biblical principles exist,
and that they actually work when consistently applied in real life on planet
earth. It is simply Join us and learn how to Live in View of the Kingdom of God this week! |
